What drove you to a career in Technology?

I’ve always been fueled by an insatiable curiosity about how things work, especially in the realm of technology. This curiosity led me to pursue a career in technology, where I could explore and push the boundaries of what’s possible. Throughout my tenure in the industry, my relentless curiosity has been instrumental in driving me to constantly seek out new challenges, learn emerging technologies, and contribute to innovative solutions to make a meaningful impact. It’s this combination of passion and curiosity that has helped me to stay relevant in the tech space. I feel like a career in technology is like a marathon. Although we are taught slow and steady wins the race, in a technology marathon, one needs to be fast and steady/consistent.

Were there any struggles for you to build a presence in Technology space?

Earlier in my career I faced some struggles. However, I approached these struggles as opportunities for growth. There is one struggle that I can think of. There are so many technology choices for a single type of problem (number of languages, number of cloud providers, number of frameworks, etc). And one has a limited amount of time to learn. So, at times I struggled to choose which particular technology I should learn. There are times when I spent numerous hours learning something and then I ended up using it for a very short duration, but very soon I had to learn a parallel solution/technology which I ended up using for a longer duration.

When it happened initially, I felt like I unnecessarily wasted time in learning my 1st choice of technology. However, eventually, I realized that, as long as it is keeping me in the learning mode, I need to look at it as a win. Also, as you can’t be always right about your choices, you can’t be always wrong about your choices too. So there are times when you end up learning something firsthand that you end up using for the long haul.

In short, I was able to overcome struggles by staying resilient, continuously upskilling myself, seeking out mentors and allies, and actively contributing to the tech community. Through perseverance and a commitment to excellence, I was able to carve out my niche and establish myself in the technology space.

What has your experience been to ‘find your place’ at Bitwise?

Finding my place within Bitwise has been a journey guided by the core values we stand for: open-mindedness, excellence, compassion, mutual respect, ownership, integrity, and belongingness. Embracing these values has not only shaped my professional growth but also fostered a sense of purpose and fulfillment in my role. By cultivating an open mind, I’ve been able to approach challenges with creativity and adaptability. It also helped me to be open to seeking help from other experts and offer my expertise to others without hesitation.

Striving for excellence has pushed me to continually raise the bar for myself and my team and deliver impactful results. Compassion and mutual respect have strengthened my relationships within the team, fostering collaboration and camaraderie. Taking ownership of my work has instilled a sense of accountability and drive for continuous improvement.

Upholding integrity in all my actions has been non-negotiable, ensuring trust and credibility in every endeavor. And finally, fostering a culture of belongingness has made our workplace not just a job, but a community where every voice is valued and every individual is empowered to thrive. Through embracing these values, I’ve not only found my place within the company but have also contributed to creating a culture where everyone can flourish.
